Earth Day Paper Making
This lesson was focused on Earth Day and how to use recycled material. The materials used were cardboard circles, tissue paper, glue, cotton balls, blue construction paper cut into squares, and continent stencils. First, we took the cardboard circles and traced the continents onto them with a pencil. Then we used blue construction paper that was cut into squares and glued them all around the circle, but not where the continents were traced. Then, we took tissue paper, rolled it into balls, and glued them onto the cardboard. After that was completed, we stretched out the cotton balls and glued them on to make them look like clouds.
For an extension activity, students could go around the school and collect recyclables that are green, blue, and white. Then, they could use the same cardboard circle and glue the materials onto it to create the Earth. This way, the students are using all recycled materials.
