Skyline Print Making

For this project, we created a skyline by using printmaking. First, we started with the sunset background. We could make the sunset however we wanted to, but we just had to use basic sunset colors. While that was drying, we started on the printmaking. We used a piece of paper to create a skyline of our choosing. Then we put our paper on top of a piece of foam and traced the skyline using a lot of pressure. Then we took the paper off and traced the foam top to make sure everything was outlined. We then took black printmaking ink and rolled it onto the foam. We then pressed it on a piece of paper first to make sure everything worked. Then we did it again and this time onto our sunset background.

For an extension activity, students could create other things from a skyline. They could create flowers, a landscape, animals, or a historical site. These could be incorporated into many different subjects and would also be very fun for students.
